French Speakers and Quebec Residents: Special Considerations

If you speak French, you have a serious advantage. IRCC now holds targeted draws for French speakers, often with much lower cut-off scores. For example, a general draw may require 521 points, while a French draw may only require 410.

If you're studying or working in Quebec, you can still apply through Express Entry—but there's a catch. You must prove your intent to live outside Quebec. This could mean moving to another province, accepting a job offer elsewhere, or updating your address.

Applying to both Quebec immigration programs and Express Entry at the same time is not recommended. It creates a contradiction in your intent to settle, which can hurt your application.
